Michael Shephard found a small vineyard in Placitas that will be offering wine samples along with how to pair different wines with food. The NM Viper Club is hosting this event, so we will need an RSVP so we can make the proper reservations.

June 16th
The MOPAR Muscle Club of NM
will host their annual car show in Rio Rancho. Since a Viper is a MOPAR, you are invited and encouraged to attend. Here is a link so you can register early: http://www.moparclub.com/mopar_fest/moparfest.htm

May 12
We will be met at 8:30 at the Donut Derelicts / Burrito Bandits off Jefferson & Paseo del Norte in Albuquerque to "hang out" and just talk cars. Afterward we headed out to a small car show at a church nearby. The original event at the drag strip was cancelled in lieu of a trip to the Jemez, but the weather ended up cancelling that trip.

Toys for Tots
The New Mexico Viper Club and Sandia Area Federal Credit Union have partnered up again for the 3rd Annual Toys for Tots Car Show on November 12th at Sandia Area's Palomas branch! Attached is the event flyer and below is the event information.

WHO: New Mexico Viper Club and Sandia Area Federal Credit Union
WHAT: 3rd Annual Marine Toys for Tots Foundation Car Show
WHEN: Saturday, November 12, 2011
WHERE: Sandia Area Federal Credit Union, 8000 Palomas Ave N.E., Albuquerque, NM 87109
TIME: 1:30 P.M. – 3:30 P.M.
COST: Donation of (at least) one new unwrapped toy

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal is to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. The Toys for Tots program helps less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation's most valuable resources - our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future. Afterward, several of us plan to head over to Five Guys for some great burgers and even better conversation. You will not want to miss this event!

Thanks!

Our Annual BBQ at Jim Baughman's home was another great success, as you can see by the pictures. The event started approximately noon-time and lasted well into the afternoon, helped along with the free food and strong margarita's!

Thanks to those that made the event another great success:

Steve and Barb T
Bill R
Jim, Renee and the kids - our hosts
Michael S
Jan and Michelle
Dalton and friend
Bill and Barb Jackson
Keaton W

Although the temperatures are nearing 100 degrees, it's hard to believe that the Christmas party is not too far away. One of our goals each year is to auction off some cool stuff to help the club make some money. Please keep your eyes and ears open for items, goods, services, etc. that can be donated to us for the auction.

Viper members and friends,

Our Saturday trip (June 4) to the Eaves Western Ranch was well attended. Many thanks to:

Tim & Shelly, Bill, Jan, Keaton, Jim B
Jim & Debbie Hebert , Sergio
Jim & Cynthia Demmick, and son Josh

After a fun ride up I-25, a great personal tour of the ranch by an actor/cowboy (and with the tour fee paid graciously by the Viper Club), and a fun drive south on N.14, we had lunch at RIBS in Cedar Crest. The food was great and the table for 12 was perfect! Sergio hooked up a video camera to the exterior of his Viper and filmed us as we drove the back roads of New Mexico. Needless to say, the video should be interesting!

NM Viper Club members and friends;

Our next New Mexico Viper Club event, the lunch cruise to Farmington, has been moved up a week to April 23rd. Please make the appropriate changes to your calendars.

This is a fun 3/4 day event to The Spare Rib BBQ restaurant in Farmington, owned by one of our club members, Jimmy Evans.

This is a fun three hour morning drive up, enjoy a great BBQ lunch, and a return to Albuquerque the same day. Jimmy often takes us on a cruise through town after lunch that is the "talk of the town" for weeks after!

If you are thinking about joining us, please let Tim Sims, our Activities Director, know to reserve a spot for you. Come join us!!

Dodge Hemi Highway Tour

You could not have asked for a nicer day for the Dodge Hemi Highway Tour to come through Albuquerque. The MOPAR Club was well represented, along with several NM Viper Club members. The weather was perfect to enjoy a couple dozen old and new MOPARs. The occasion was the appearance of a 470 horsepower Dodge SRT/8 - 392ci Challenger. You couldn't have asked for a nicer stop for our guests from Detroit.

Pictured is Scott Vanderkerckhove with a white Challenger on loan from Chrysler Corporation giving us the details on this awesome vehicle. Scott asked for his picture to be taken next to Tim Sims' 2009 Viper SRT/10 - ACR in the same color combination.
